COVID-19 Updates for the Dressage Community from US Equestrian
From the US Equestrian Communications Department |
Dear USEF Dressage Members,
We understand that our dressage community continues to feel the impact of the COVID-19 developments. Please know during this challenging time, your team at US Equestrian will continue to provide service and support. We thank you for your patience as we sort through the day-to-day updates and how this is affecting our events, competitions, and programs.
The first stage of this process is to identify every area that is impacted, and then we will prioritize and address those areas. We are closely monitoring communications from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee. We have communicated to our memberships and competition organizers guidance to suspend all USEF-licensed events and participation for the next 30 days. We will assess the situation on a daily basis. To read the full release, please click here.
Additionally, as of March 17, 2020, USEF has implemented a flexible work plan for USEF employees. At the end of this month, this plan may be modified or extended as we monitor the COVID-19 situation and USEF’s business needs.
We understand there are many concerns but we want you to know that we are taking steps to address the following areas:
• Competition calendar & Licensed Officials
• Selection process for international events, including but not limited to FEI North American Youth Championships and the Olympic Games
• Qualifying process for the US Dressage Festival of Champions
• Program events and activities
USEF and USDF will continue to support each other, especially on joint programs and events.
There are still many unknowns, but we hope that through regular communication and collaboration, we will be able to maintain competition opportunities and serve all stakeholders – athletes, organizers, officials, horse owners, and athlete support teams. We, in addition to USDF and our other USEF departments, will be providing further updates over the coming days and weeks.
Please check the USEF website and the USDF website daily for any changes. Please also be aware of the March 17 communique from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) regarding plans for Tokyo 2020.
If you have any dressage-specific questions, please reach out to us directly.
Kind regards,
USEF Dressage staff
